my first california yoga class!

today i went for power yoga at california. ive actually been meaning to attend ever since i joined the club in december.. but as we all know too well, certain CIRCUMSTANCES are unavoidable. -sheepish-

anyways.. we basically did the sun salute extremely slowly, but good lord after 30 mins i was DRIPPING sweat. the sweat beads did joyful slaloms down my quivering muscles and made a huge show out of their landing on the mat with loud, exuberant "plops." i am ashamed to admit that my core muscles have atrophied ever since i left my healthy gymnastics lifestyle behind in singapore. sigh. my warrior pose was more like the jello pose with all that wobbling. very unimpressive. my ego took a further beating when the middle-aged fat lady in front of me stood unmoving all the time, with all the glory of a terra cotta warrior.

my redeeming moment (thank god) was when we had to do the tare panda pose (or whatever you call it) in splits. somehow the instructor discovered that i was rather pliable. and she did what my gym coach did... SAT ON MY BUTT SO MY ENTIRE TORSO WAS FLAT ON THE GROUND WHILE DOING SIDE SPLITS. i swear i saw my life flash before my eyes - particularly that section where my gym coach tore my adductors doing the exact same thing. hehe but nope, didnt tear this time! my adductors held their own! it felt kinda good when people around me when WOAHHHHH. even made the pain worthwhile! i guess that's what they mean by no pain, no gain, eh eh?
