i had a Friend
i had a friend, her name was Friend.
she came into my life on the night of April 11th. tiny and weak she was, with squinty little eyes. but she ate with gusto and did not hesitate to climb onto my palm. yet, the next morning she sat so very still, tremoring a little, once in awhile. her fur teeming with mites, invading her ears and whiskers.
bought her medication i did, but she no longer ate. and on the night of April 13th, she took in her last ragged breaths as her red eyes faded into grey.
