Internal Medicine, Check!
so. after 3 months in the grind, i have now emerged, virtually unscathed save some close shaves. learned a great deal and somehow am slightly more positive about the PGY year. Not that i agree with the policymakers on their explanation of why this system was implemented (primary care my ass!), but that at least for the time being, we know a little more. Which, sadly, is the result of suboptimal medical education more than anything else. But hey, better late than never, right.
some really cool cases ive met in the course of the 3 months include: massive pulmonary embolism (s1q3t3, anyone?), cardiac tamponade, acute myocardial infarction, small bowel obstruction, goodpasture's disease, just to name a few..
