last night i had a dream
i dreamt of a happy dog

she wagged her tail,
begged for hugs

her eyes, they were so bright
so hopeful

i played with her
caressed her
snuggled against her warm body

i dont quite remember
the details of the dream

but i know it was you
you came back to bid me goodbye

perhaps it was only a figment of my imagination
but the tears that run down my cheeks now
they are real

i miss you already.
