flash in the pan

three chaotic weeks, many sleep-deprived nights, one mug of extra strong coffee (with double the caffeine), countless homework undone, many hair-pulling episodes and numerous rehearsals later, its all over.

its over.
english drama competition night is over.

suddenly, life is empty. its as though we worked so hard for such a short moment. kind of like an anti-climax really. i guess getting the best script award and overall 2nd is something to be happy about but... i still cant get over the fact that drama competition has come and gone.

the busy rehearsals, desperate dry runs... the class bonding. i miss that already.

and now life goes back to its dreary monotone, as i flip open my physics textbook once again and attempt to figure out chapter 19: electric forces and electric fields, when really, i feel like memorizing more rana catesbeiana bones. hah.

nah. seriously.
especially when the cold winter wind blows..

you wish hard that you were happily occupied with urgent work, so that you can once again pretend to not hear the many voices inside your head.

uhm. sorry for the maudlin entry but congrats you guys did a great job tonight =)

oasis

heh. finally posting after a long time. tut mir leid! was busy with midterms (which took like... 3 weeks to complete) o.0

been working on the class drama script for next thursday's drama fest. notice that i am writing this now, and its already thursday. so i have no idea how we are going to come up with a full scale play by this time next week. but i suppose given all the stringent and grueling military training... we just might be able to scrape through. lol!

ive decided to be studious lately, but hm. i seem to have a problem here because... for the past few nights by the time i opened my textbook... its already time to sleep o.0
there must be something wrong because i dont seem to accomplish very much, walking in and out of the dorm, doing well... nothing very much in particular.

sometimes i really wonder how much i can accomplish if i really tried. i dont think ive ever done that before.. working really hard at something. the closest ive come to that academically would have to be in sec 3.. but even then.. its never 100%. i really wonder what its like...

the erosion

ok im really pissed now.

first off, the teachers make critical spelling errors of scientific names of the stuff we need to know for biology lab, which no one would ever find out IF I DIDNT GO ONLINE AND CHECK EVERY SINGLE WORD. well it sounds ok, you say, we all make mistakes sometime. yeah but i dont think such mistakes are ALLOWED as a lecturer? i mean a typo or two is understandable, but at least have the decency to correct it in class! because, really your powerpoint slides are all we have for reference. heck, and its not even the first time they are making such errors. theyve had it since years back, and still it remains uncorrected. so what does that say? that YOU dont understand your work? or that you are fatally lazy?!

oh but yeah i suppose the students dont CARE. i was telling other people about the spelling and they're like ah well we just study the chinese only anyway. who cares about english? oh yeah? if thats the kind of bullshit attitude we have in this school, no wonder english standards are down in taiwan. jesus christ!

oh and i need to mention that studying biology terminology is SO goddamn easy in chinese because the names are but descriptions of the object in question. so are we all lazy or what? someone tell me cuz i really dont know and its pissing me off.

eureka!

ive been feeling pretty down this morning ever since penning my PBL report, because I CANT SEEM TO WRITE ANYMORE. my grammar is going to pieces and my vocabulary has decided to go on a vacation. lamarck was right on use and disuse... at least with regards to language. use a language often and it will improve. cease to use it and it degenerates until you are left with the bare basics of communication. which annoys me to no end because i used to be rather eloquent. well... ok i exaggerate. but i could definitely express myself better than i can right now o.0

anyways, i came up with an emergency action plan - Operation Mother Tongue. haha! the first part (and the only im afraid... at least for now) involves me infringing the copyright law by photocopying all the nice articles in Time and Newsweek. (its awfully cheap to do that if you shrink 2 pages into one) i took down 3 issues and it cost me only SGD2.50. quite a steal if you ask me!

was perusing the stolen articles during calculus class and lo and behold! i might have just unearthed the answer to my acute sleeping illness (of the benign type). according to my -uh hum- research, i might have a case of sleep apnea. what is sleep apnea, you ask? well it happens when your nasal passages or throat gets blocked during sleep and your breathing is badly interrupted. this effectively wakes you up at a subconscious level as your body strains to breathe (often through snoring, snorting har har, snuffling or wheezing). this means that you get little or no sleep at Stage 4 of the sleep cycle. now, this translates into your body not ever getting complete rest.

apparently, after the reader had CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) applied to him via this mini machine thing, he awoke feeling better than he ever EVER did! and, get this, he usually "take(s) a couple of hours after i wake up (around 10am) to arrive at even moderate alertness". sounds like anybody you know??!!

well the sympoms of sleep apnea are as follows - snuffling at night (just ask yideho, me snorted all night in tainan), irritability, constant need for naps (check out me during class!), nodding off in the afternoon (haha!). sounds like me? eh eh eh??

i certainly think so!!! think im gonna check myself into a sleep clinic real soon (hopefully i'll get some discount, too.. cuz ive a feeling it aint gonna be cheap). alright thats abt it for now!! i'll try to update more often, now that the midterms (almost) over.

hmm oh yeah btw, I PASSED PHYSICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woot. (although i flunked physics lab so far that the passing mark is a speckle) hehe. but who cares abt lab anyways, when the apparatus EXPIRE in the 1970s?! hehehe. aighty gotta go study for biology lab. i'll definitely remember to capitalize and attempt to italicize the goddamn latin names this time. o.0

cheerios!
