(killer) exercise of the day

THE PLANK.

lie face-down on the floor, with your elbows on the ground for support. toes and legs should be in contact with the ground.
next, contract your ab muscles lift your torso up so that only your toes and elbows touch the floor. make sure that the body is in a straight line.
hold for 30 secs. rest for 10 seconds, then repeat.

it burns off more fat than other ab exercises (and feels that way too!) try it! hehehe its gooooood!

miss south africa

cindy nell. saw her again on miss world 2003 (previously on miss universe 2003). now, i never knew you get to go for all (well, the major ones anyway) the international pageants once you're crowned miss south africa! dont get me wrong tho, i love cindy nell (seriously, i was rooting for her all the way!!)... its such a pity that she got only the 2nd runner-up position. now cindy is a girl who knows what she wants and wants it now. ooh. sexy. hehe oh god i sound so gay.

when i saw her in the pageant today it was like seeing an old friend again... hehe quite quite awesome! it was like, yadda yadda yadda. HEY CINDY!! hehe. anyways, tried to vote for her online but they charged a whole bloody pound for it, so i thought, aww sorry cindy. (plus, i really didnt have a credit card..)

checked out miss singapore, and barely survived the ordeal. WHAT THE?? now that beatrice girl was better looking. oh goshhhh when did they even hold the audition? private hush hush affair again? baaaaaad.

another lady to check out -> miss uruguay. very pretty! ;)

now, robbie i know you think pageants are superficial but then again, beauty is beauty =) and the appreciation of beautiful things is what makes us oh so human, wouldnt you say? im for pageants all the way (cindy, too!) hehe. cheers!

lets see what else. ah yes, quote of the day, from mr hugh grant.

"Loving someone no matter what their faults in a blind and unconditional way, such as the love Tony Blair has for George Bush. That's the purest form of British love today."

WELL PUT, MR. GRANT! i'd say that's the most insightful thing you've ever said!!! bravo bravo! ;)

im so screwed

i rang the taipei representative office a few weeks back, and enquired about university admission. i was told (in a very impatient tone) to check back again in late december or january.

wanting to find out more about university applications and what nots, i emailed a few universities about the matter, and was given a link to a website that stated applications HAVE ALREADY STARTED on NOVEMBER 17th AND WILL END ON NOVEMBER 29th.

im friggin pissed now. gotta check with the representative office (and shoot that woman while im at it) tomorrow cuz if the website is to be trusted, i gotta get everything ready by this thursday (and have it posted so it'll arrive on sat) and today is already tuesday.

aww..

did a tv marathon today. sat in front of the tube for 4 straight hours.

thought 'Party School' had snippets of qin yang, but didnt. they had lee hom in kaohsiung tho (argh, taiwan..) it was really sweet. they had 3 girls go onstage and interact with him.

girl number 1 had to act out a bit of his mtv (where he puts on the helmet for her and hugs her)
girl number 2 was fed a mouthful of cake (his choice)
girl number 3 had powder put gently on the tip of her nose by him

its quite inane really, but it was so sweet, the way he like, hugged 2 of them... makes you just go

AWWW.... (need a boyfriend)

boredom

im bored im bored im bored im bored.

i really dont want to watch the paint peel...

help, save me, someone!!!!!!

a donation of any sum will be gladly accepted.

well its all settled now

i am NOT going overseas. not to malaysia, not to taiwan, not to the states. not anywhere.

and the reason? obvious.

so, as all of you lucky people are trotting the globe, you feather-footed friends, i will be participating in a particularly lively pastime of butt-rot. with nothing to do, nothing to do, and most of all, nothing to do.

perhaps it is good that i had so many things planned. can you imagine, i planned for a good 4 things to happen and none of them did. should i have planned for none, then i would be existing in the negative zone as of the present. which is, i suppose, much better than bumming around at home.

ARGHHHHH. sorry just had to vent my frustrations. im okay now. really.

lets see now. bro needs a school. checked out whitley and balestier hill secondary for him already. dip-doo-dah.

the local birdpark and zoo and the spca are getting to be so cocky. they've got so many volunteers now thanks to the government's community involvement scam that they think every volunteer is starving for points. oh PUHLEEZE.

im so disgusted. anyways.

argh. bored bored bored bored bored. i might just start doing math..

a change in plans (once more)

well, checked out the SCCIOB yesterday and their translation course does not start until February 2004. this means that i cannot apply for it, since i MIGHT be starting university next year in Taiwan (September).

plus, found Reductiv-D -> an online-learning course for meine Deutsche. so, ich habe die Goethe-Institut gehen nicht.

ja voll.

which MEANS -> vacation plans again!!! hahah. oh boy. this is seriously confusing.

we'll find out if its all or nothing by tomorrow...

i wanna learn...

im rethinking my vacation plans. should i spend my money...

1) travelling
2) doing a course
3) not spending money, but earning money

i could possibly do 2) and 3) at the same time tho. =)

2) in more detail...
- translation course at the local Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business (weeknights / weekends 12 x 3 hrs)
- german language course (to rescue my failing deutsche) @ YMCA / Goethe-Institut -> i really wanna learn spanish tho, but think i should concentrate on one language first keke
- taekwondo at a community center (not a course... but i could do it with my bro)
- english-teaching? (maybe...)

im really enthusiastic about the translation course, cuz i was selected for a translation elective way back in 2001, and i enjoyed myself (though i translated like a car-crash haha) mm yeah. and i think it'll probably come in good use. gotta make the best use of my youth dude!

i guess, since i really wanted to go to taiwan, and that plan fell thru, i might as well do something USEFUL with the money.. since im not really THATTT interested in going to any other country, come to think of it. yup.

well i dunno... still contemplating! im hecka fickle...

if you want something hard enough, you'll get it

will i?

i wish i may i wish i might.

vacation plans

as all of you kno, my going-back-to-taiwan plans have been single-handedly thwarted by my dad.

however, there is one possible redemption - under Dad's Law Number 6435.

it is stated, in Times New Roman font, size 12, no less, that if Mr. Chern Chyi Yang does well for his PSLE exams, Miss Chern (yours truly) will be allowed to flee for xmas.

the possible locations of exile (har har) are:
- USA
- New Zealand
- Australia
- Taiwan (if i can work my magic to convince my dad...)
- Any other location

however, should Mr. Chern (jr.) fail to achieve XXX results for his PSLE, it means that Miss Chern will have to be imprisoned in the high security jail known as HOME for the rest of the break. her penalty would be to tutor Mr. Chern until Jan 2nd, when school resumes.

after much contemplation, Miss Chern has come up with the comprehensive Pros and Cons list of vacation destinations, and the results is as follows:

USA:
Pro -> Tina! Wendy! (both on holiday)
Cold (and i mean cold) Xmas
SHOPPING!!! whoopee
Theme parks? (not sure abt that)
Universities?
Sights and sounds keke

Cons -> HELLA EXPENSIVE!!!!! @@

New Zealand:
Pro -> Friends! (Robbie, Rachelle, Gilainne)
Sights (sheep? keke)
ZOO!!! hehehehe oh boy.
Universities?

Cons -> Expensive... Horrid Taxes!!

Australia (Perth):
Pro -> Never been there before (as above, cept that i didnt type it in)
Jieying's Apple Strudel
Summer Clothes (tho i dont like surf-wear)

Cons -> What's in Perth???? lol

Taiwan:
Pros -> Qin Yang, Pilifire MERCHANDISE (wins hands-down already)
SHOPPING!!!! (hsimenting, nightmarkets, ahhhhhh countless)
FOOD!!!!
Independence (thank god for MRT)
PLACES OF INTEREST!! (ZOO!! LEOFOO!! MALAWAN!!!!!)
Mom -> the TW pro
Relatives! yay!! Johnny darling and his awesome motorbike =D
SCOOTER LICENSE (drool)
National Taiwan University (zoology lectures!!)

Cons -> DAD =/
Dont kno if there are anymore tickets left (DAMN, why cancel them??)

so you see, from the above analysis... i really want to go back to taiwan... *cries*

oh well. but it all boils down to MY BROTHER'S RESULTS *scary music plays*

so help me god.

brought to you by Quizilla

oh my gosh this is so true!! hee =) now i kno, my alter-ego's dopey! hehe keewwwl..

[I am Arwen!]
I am Arwen Undomiel, daughter of Elrond and Celebrian of Rivendell. I gave up my immortality for love, but it was for the hottest Ranger-King of Middle Earth. In the movie, I'm played by Liv Tyler.
|| Which Lord of the Rings Elf are you? @ Duath.com ||

whoopeedoooo! =) arwen's my fav... she looks good in her 'Lux, Super Rich' commercial too! its unbelievable that she's that guy's daughter.

My Neighbor Totoro
You're My Neighbor Totoro! One of Miyazaki's most
well-known works, you are young and innocent.
This work was created in an attempt to make an
anime in which there was no villain.

Saturday, November 15, 2003

argh. blogger's screwed up. i think i'm gonna shift everything to xanga...

Friday, November 14, 2003

something unbelievable happened yesterday! i got spotted by a talent scout! hehe... wow! =) who would have thought?

anyways, the matrix was alrite... it wasnt spectacular or anything but it did serve as a good ending... well, kinda, in the sense that there is always good and bad in the world, and in order for one to exist, the other has to, too.

was watching 'I've Got the Power' on satellite tv yesterday, and Jenny brought up a great point. she said that it didnt make sense for women to compromise when choosing a boyfriend, simply because after we've spent so much time and effort on ourselves to make ourselves the perfect woman, why settle for anything less than the perfect man?

think about it. =)

You're Perfect ^^
-Perfect- You're the perfect girlfriend. Which
means you're rare or that you cheated :P You're
the kind of chick that can hang out with your
boyfriend's friends and be silly. You don't
care about presents or about going to fancy
placed. Hell, just hang out. You're just happy
being around your boyfriend.

What Kind of Girlfriend Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

hehehehe WOW!!! =)

godd
You are Form 1, Goddess: The Creator.

"And The Goddess planted the acorn of life.
She cried a single tear and shed a single drop
of blood upon the earth where she buried it.
From her blood and tear, the acorn grew into
the world."

Some examples of the Goddess Form are Gaia (Greek),
Jehova (Christian), and Brahma (Indian).
The Goddess is associated with the concept of
creation, the number 1, and the element of
earth.
Her sign is the dawn sun.

As a member of Form 1, you are a charismatic
individual and people are drawn to you.
Although sometimes you may seem emotionally
distant, you are deeply in tune with other
people's feelings and have tremendous empathy.
Sometimes you have a tendency to neglect your
own self. Goddesses are the best friends to
have because they're always willing to help.

well, without further ado, i will announce, the illustrious list of... *drumroll* THE THINGS I DID TODAY!!!

1) toyed with the idea (yes, once again) of getting a scooter's license (and, hopefully, a vespa) in december. free joy rides on vicky's soon-to-be scooter available for bookings now! (helmet and insurance not provided)

2) tried to make myself cry (see post far below). well i succeeded! maybe id like to take some acting classes in the future, just for interest's sake...

3) danced with the mop on the slippery stage of floor cleaner. and, as a tiny act of rebellion, ruined friday's peace and calm by belting out renditions of All That Jazz. uh-hum.

4) counted my mosquito bites. total number: 4 (and counting)

5) downloaded yet more pilifire stuff (2 gb worth!! hehe)

6) cleaned the house and drove to endangerment 2 species of ants

7) modelled winter clothes and decided i needed more more more (especially boots.. im gonna get those!)

8) lolled around abit

9) lolled around abit more

eeks... sounds like someone i know!

entrancing
You have an entrancing kiss~ the kind that leaves
your partner bedazzled and maybe even feeling
he/she is dreaming. Quite effective; the kiss
that never lessens and always blows your
partner away like the first time.

What kind of kiss are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

hmm... i think ive done this quiz before... but is it really... ?

was awfully bored last night, so decided to practise abit of acting =) i wanted to see if i could cry on will, and it turns out that i CAN... after about 3 mins tho. i think the hardest part about trying to cry on will is to get the very first tear out. after that it becomes relatively easier.

mm i think acting is quite quite fun. i suppose its a tough job, wut with miles of script to memorize and awful hours, but it is the only career where you can experience life from different angles, as different people. plus, its a good way to meet people too. imagine, 1 year worth of filming with like, 50 odd people. im sure, with all the spare time and wut nots that you're bound to find people you can click with and have a whale of a time, prima donnas aside =) hehe..

ahh.. *thinks*

bush jr wants to illegalize abortions with the exception of when the mother's life is in danger.

i believe i speak for most women when i say ...

THATS THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING IVE EVER HEARD.

damn you, bush.

a few things that i wanna taste:

- a little debbie cake
- sticky bun

especially the sticky bun. sticky. bun. is there anything more alluring than the delectable combination of those two most unlikely words? talk about opposites attract.

well, today i found out (to my utmost horror) that there are TWO versions of 'Portrait of an Artist, as an Old Man'. i believe that the one i read is the spoof. the shadow of the original book. joseph heller's little, cruel joke. still, it was a good read, if i still remember. the battles between the greek gods.. well. it wasnt all greek.

mom hung a little Ikea-bought picture on my wall. it is strangely disturbing. it is, i believe, a caricature of myself, my brother and eric, in form of a cow, a goat and a pig. mom wants to give it to eric when we return to taiwan in december, along with the little league baseball we got him, lucky american NEHS kid. =) still, he is my cousin and i love him. to anyone else, i say, MY COUSIN'S BETTER THAN YOURS!

so there, so there.

but i digress.

its unconcerting to wake up in the morning (or, in the middle of the night, if you will) and find three inanely vacant, delirious farm animals smiling at you. sounds scary? well, no.. just mindless.

now if you will, i'll excuse myself and take another peep at them three, wearing wide smiles and looking blissfully ignorant, with their pistachio mental acuity.

such is a picture of world peace.

whoopeedoo. its D-O-N-E. frankly, a little too sugar-coated, but hey it has purple sno-puffs. my blog is all set for a nice 'frosty' winter... wut about yours?

my own skin. um. blogskin, i mean. with lotsa little piccies. hopefully angelfire holds up...

Saturday, November 01, 2003

they say that its harder to make friends as we age. why is that so? is it because, throughout the course of our life we all become more suspicious, more pessimistic, and less open?

is it the experiences of our life that shapes us to become cold creatures, unresponsive to the goodwill of others? that we simply lose patience with the unfamiliar?

i dunno.

while we were all more accepting as youngsters, we now form our own impressions of other people before giving them a chance to prove themselves. while i suppose most assumptions are correct, nevertheless why cant we go through life with the heart of an innocent child?

perhaps we know too much. and perhaps they do, too.

all i can say that im oh so very thankful for the friendship ive found, 4 years ago, in 2 particular persons.

you guys know who you are!!! =)

genting, anyone?

'heartily know, when half-gods go, the gods arrive.' think about it, its true.

oh my god. qin yang talked to me! me! me! =) woo hoo! im ecstatic!!!
