becoming singaporean
living in taiwan for the past year has made me think alot about who i actually am. i was born in singapore and i grew up in singapore, but throughout all that time i was taiwanese. my parents never let me forget about that!
i always saw myself as taiwanese in singapore, but then now that i am in taiwan, ive come to realize how different i am from a "real taiwanese". i talk like them and look like them, hell even my parents are taiwanese too! but other than that, there is really very little in common. i dont think like half the people here, my lifestyle is different, and i love singapore food too much, for crying out loud.
so i guess, deep down, i really am more singaporean than i am taiwanese. and for that, nurture presides over nature! hehe gonna apply for it once i return to singapore during cny. hmph. for 20 years of pr-ship (21 in january, i was born in singapore!)... i think i do qualify!
