today marks the start of the happy parade of midterm exams. first up, public health.
the exam went pretty alright, thanks to the pot pourri of TYS questions i did earlier. there was this one odd question though, for which i had to choose one out of four metallic elements. and since i never bothered to remember the chinese terms anyway, i decided to ask the invigilators for help.
after initially declining to assist me in translation, the lady invigilator finally agreed. following that, she tottered off with my question paper and had a lengthy discussion with a fellow invigilator about the names of the elements in question. note that i did not ask for the fullname of the element, just the symbol (whatever you call it). I.e., Pb for lead, o for oxygen.
minutes later she returned with a whopping 2 out of 4 translated. wowee. "uhm. im not too sure about the other two, so i didnt translate them" so she said. and guess what, the correct answer was amongst one of those that she DIDNT translate.
so OBVIOUSLY, i got that question WRONG.
excuse me if i find her a tad bit incompetent. such jolly post-grad public health majors!!
its no wonder taiwan's national healthcare is in such shambles.
