ho-hum. i'll start this post again. hehe at this rate i'll NEVER get to 1000! lol. i wonder if blogger will give me some gift vouchers or anything for my constant support! heh.

speaking of vouchers, i won NT200 out of the receipt lottery thing. and the best part is the winning receipt was the result of me purchasing a birthday present for my classmate. :P moral of the story? buy your friend a present!

well yeah, i visited hsinchu, taichung and chiang kai shek international airport during the weekends. lets review my schedule for the weekend! (not that you have a choice in the matter anyways)

FRI -> bused to hsinchu, stood fascinated in front of a pet store gaping at adolescent malteses, chihuahuas, schnauzers and 2 kissing rabbits. the maltese was the cutest i have to admit. hehe 'lil white puff of fur!

had a slipshod dinner at Orange Yellow Temple (read in mandarin), which was pretty good if you ignore the incessant chattering of my communist aunt. next we sang at PartyWorld for 3 hours, which was hecka fun. even the food was good!

we visited taichung the next day, and other than the our unfortunate interaction with the rudest bus lady ever, the trip went rather smoothly. o sole mio took on an entirely different meaning in taichung, with the sun hiding behind the rather thick smog, leaving the town occupied by numerous forms of sun cakes. :O of course, being the typical tourists that we were, we got a few boxes... in both regular and honey flavors. :P

monday was a gloomy day. the quote shakespeare, the sun for sorrow will not show its head. during the dark of the night, my earstud slipped out unnoticed.. leaving my earhole vulnerable to the incredible healing abilities of VickyBot. alas! when the morning came, my earhole had vanished, the only trace of its past presence being a rather pathetic dent in my earlobe.

i need to have it pierced again. maybe i'll get two more instead?

on newspapers and the like.

after stopping my order of newspapers, i realized to my chagrin that im entirely out of touch with the world's affairs. which lead to me returning to the mothership (of the straits times) only to discover to my horror that the online edition of ST has turned into a business venture. now i have to pay to read online news. :P and, having grown up in singapore and fed on a steady diet of forum articles. I WANT TO COMPRAIN AHHH. want me to pay SGD900++ for 3 months' worth of newspaper subscription (paper edition) just so i can read it while squatting on the 'bowl? siao liao!!

so that was strike one. i then ordered the online edition of the miami herald... but discovered that the paper was largely about instate issues. and since miami is miles away and i dont know the certain unfortunate Jack who fell off his horse and died, i decided to further my search.

having enjoyed immensely the weekly monday edition of the new york times, i checked out its website. but uhhh subscription is expensive.. and they dont deliver out of state. such a disappointment!

finally, i came upon this cool online paper www.newkerala.com.. the indian online newspaper and wow is it good! :P im gonna give it a go and finally catch up on some juicy world news. although most of the focus is on chinese and british news but hey! i like :P

since its past twelve and im hardly that sleepy, im going to compile a list of my vast array of (possible) medical problems since entering ndmc. [interestingly, NDMC makes out to No Doctor's Medical Certificate... which cannot be closer to the truth]

- knee meniscus issues (been hurting alot since the chacha squat stuff)
- ankle inflammation (hurt like hell for a few days, after which it subsided)
- toe nail falling off, and further aggravated by lil ol' clumsy me accidentally kicking it with my dance heels. OUCH is the word.
- wrist strain (thanks to an overenthusiastic wushu snr.. who had nothing but good intentions mind you. but you kno as they say, the road to hell is lined with nngnggg...)
- gastric ulcer (once thanks to braddell denizen for pissing me off bigtime, and another time cuz uhm... i had an all potato-chip dinner)
- infected earhole. bah. 3rd time it has happened. no thanks to the no ear stud rule.
- achey hips. heh which prolly just means too much dance. but hey i could have hip dislocation in the works you now? lol jk.
- been sneezing alot lately. the Chain Sneezer is back in action to save the world from being too quiet!!! hope its not a cold though, cuz that would succcck.
- back pains. THEY"RE BACK!!!!! WITH A VENGEANCE! oh bummer.

mmm yep. it appears that gymnastics is kinder on your body than the combined effect of chacha, wushu and cheerleading. haha.

the weekend!

went on a class outing on saturday to bishan rock, viewed a waterfall that was decidedly less impressive than the Peeing David. :P which made me ponder if the combined urinary prowess of all the class guys would create a nigara falls by comparison, heh. and to think we spent so long getting up there and locating the 'fall.

saw an interesting variety of squashed organisms. some quite, quite fresh (cuz one of us stepped on it). there was the rather deflated looking toad, a mouse pancake, as well as a freshly juiced multicolored caterpillar (god bless). in fact, i think we saw more dead animals than alive. ah well, it would be an insane animal to come out in the wet, winter drizzle anyways. which is more than what i can say for the people who went. heh.

dinner was at the fancy Woodstone restaurant. the name having absolutely no correlation to the meals served. heh. but hey the food was good and the service was praise-worthy, so i shouldnt complain. :P its the n-th weekend that im eating pizza/western food though.. so ehhh i didnt have alot. in fact, ive established a new rule to NOT HAVE WESTERN FOOD FOR AWHILE. and i am staying off all taiwanese steak. it just doesnt have the steak taste.. ack. jack's place does it so much better :P mmm when i go back to singapore im going to try the buffet at american club, have that ponderosa grill thing.. not to mention kenny rogers with the deeeeelicious corn muffins. damn taiwanese western food!!!!!

this morning was to make up for all the calories consumed last night, for i went for martial arts class and then rushed back to school (after surviving a rather loopy bus ride) for dance sport class. my joints are really worn down. i think i need to start eating some supplements. =S had to tape up both my knees and my wrist today. gotta check online for the gymnast tape. at NT145 per roll, the one im using now is wayyyy too uneconomical.

heh oh lunch was a grand affair. well kinda.. YL and i visited one of those noodle houses in a tiny ally and since we couldnt decide on whether or not to get sichuan noodles / mutton noodles / and fish noodles... we got all three. hehe. ahhh im stufffffed. :D finally, im eating PROPER noodles. not like the mushy shit they try to pass off as noodles in school.

on a separate note... we got our dance costumes today! haha. yay.

chacha madness

the chacha exhibition is on next week, and we've entered a week of nonstop chacha practices. dance seems really easy and relaxing when you are watching it, but when you are actually the one dancing... wooo mama!

its the 3rd day of practice and my thighs already feel like they're falling off. >< and my feet feel like theyve been stomped on by a rather heavy cow. argh.

on the other hand, i seem to be improving. heh. think that chacha's more sexy when done slowly, and not to that insanely up tempo bit of mambo number 5. when you shake your tushie it looks like you're having seizures. o.0

movie appreciation

watched this really fantastic movie on wednesday.. or rather, the ending of the fantastic movie =) hehe. while "Together With You" as a title sounded like a snore at first, it was really quite a moving film, which made me re-evaluate china's ability to make (good) films. i was told that taiwan played a part in this too. so i dunno, perhaps its some reunification thing through movies hehehe =)

well the highlight of the film is the rendition of Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto in D Major (opus 35). the third movement, allegro assai, when played in the movie, really made me wanna dash out and immediately purchase a violin AND the score. but thankfully, the lack of money (not to mention the lack of freedom) prevented me from doing that. that said, i'll get a violin and cello soon enough, and i'll play that song, and others (albeit not so flawlessly hahaha). just you watch.

a quick check online revealed the story behind the concerto to be quite something. and being the lazy person that i am, im just gonna copy and paste the url so you interested people can go read for yourself. and those not interested wont have to exercise your eyes (and finger). heh

first day of combination and we had to endure one fucking hour of assembly. i cannot imagine having to do this everyday. is there really a pressing need to incessantly repeat your announcements in triplicate again and agAIN and AGAIN?!!!!! we fucking heard it the first time, and if we didnt, we wouldnt hear it at the third time either!

when we took the english and chinese exams we were TOLD that we had a CHOICE as to which way we wanted our holidays. either pass all three and get a whole year of holidays, or have all holidays for each required subject to be calculated individually. and im pretty damn sure it was the former that we voted for. so what's this now? MAXIMUM of 7 holidays for full marks for the english test? you fucking lied to us you goddamn bastards.

so now on friday nights we have to endure TWO GODDAMN ASSEMBLIES, each lasting for half an hour, no doubt. 7pm and 9pm. its as if we dont already have enough assemblies to last us multiple lifetimes during the 5 day week already. and HURRAY we get to leave school on SATURDAY morning at SIX FUCKING AM!!!!! oh geez, im so excited i am beside myself, a vessel overflowing with boundless joy!!!!! AS IF WE DONT ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH SLEEP DEPRIVATION DURING THE WEEK, HAVING TO WAKE UP AT 530AM TO STAND OUTSIDE IN THE BLISTERING COLD WINTER WIND, CLAD ONLY IN LOUSY POTATO SACK UNIFORMS, DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AT ALL BUT WAITING AND PRETENDING THAT WE HAVE ALOT OF THINGS TO DO JUST SO EVERYONE'S ASSEMBLY CAN END ON TIME.

yeah lets be fair, why dont we? its unfair to waste one person's time so yeah let's waste EVERYONE's time! now the students down south cant go home during the weekends thanks to YOUR KIND KIND BENEVOLENCE. your largesse touches me and your concern for student welfare brings tears to my eyes. yeah, im so sure their parents want to see their kids "succeed" so much that they would love seeing their kids being grounded at school for the weekend, fortifying themselves with endless enriching activities, including the very informative ONE HOUR LONG ASSEMBLY PERIODS, at 2 hour intervals no less.
